This study aims to describe what Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) is and the role of IBL in language teaching in the light of the recent developments so that teachers can realise the importance of IBL in language teaching and use it as a part of their teaching method effectively in their teaching situations. Characteristics of IBL, guided inductive inquiry and questioning techniques for inquiry teaching are also defined.
In this article, the emphasis is on English Language learning through usage of emerging technology in language labs. Language lab is place where a learner can undergo self learning experience at his own pace, by practicing a host of exercises through technology. These exercises can be done in all the four modalities of language learning.
I have observed that one of the main reasons that children hate math is they have not mastered the foundation of math, surprisingly the root of problems can be traced to the basics they learned in the elementary grades such as addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. When elementary students are asked why do we have math? Lots of these children can relate math to our daily life such as shopping, cooking, measuring, driving, time, shapes etc.
