It is critical.

Why?

It determines everything in any kind of social media change, growth, improvement, or marketing. Leadership is the elevator in all business. Especially in Social media. It will determine whether something goes UP or goes DOWN in the marketplace. It will determine Value or determine Emptiness.

I think you would agree, many folks in social media are entrepreneurs with their own business. But yet, many of these folks do not LEAD in social media.

They sell.

They market.

They converse.

They Spend time on social sites.

They buy all the latest “guru’s” CDs and DVDs.

They follow. They follow others in their efforts to find the golden rings of social Media.

Here is a novel idea:

TAKE YOUR OWN LEAD.

Step up to YOUR LEADERSHIP in social media and get out of the wake of people that are trying to leave you behind.

DECIDE to Connect and Embrace YOU – to Your own Leadership in Social Media. There is an INCREDIBLE Leader inside of you-it’s time to RELEASE that Leader.

Start directing people to ideas and possibilities they never knew existed-from YOUR Suggestions and guidance. Start guiding people to what will TRANSFORM them as a person, not just what will create a Transaction. Transform their perception of what is possible. Transform their thinking to a new level of Success. Transform their expectations-with YOU.

There are 4 Secrets to becoming Powerful Social Media Leader and if you operate with these components in mind, you can become social media royalty.

Here are those 4 components:

1) A PICTURE.

Some folks call it Vision. Some folks call it a Destination. In social media, you need to paint a vivid picture in what you can do for a person, as well as where you are going to take them. Picture pages are the most visited pages in social media. That is called a CLUE.

OK. Then using that as a measure, lets’ create s picture of where you are headed, and what that picture has to offer anyone who will follow. Does the picture have a name? Does the picture you paint of your message move people emotionally?

Create what I call a Picture of Promise, and then keep that picture in your Social Media Leadership front and center.

Lisa, a friend of mine, keeps a picture of what a person will look like if they learn about and use here skin care system FRONT AND CENTER on her social sites. She is not trying to sell anything except a possibility. It is a Powerful picture that leads to a powerful place.

2) A PATH.

Folks want a Path they can travel, and most want it in modules, or steps. What does your Leadership Path offer and what are the steps? Have you CLEARLY laid out the path so they can follow with no challenge to where you are leading them? Are the links and any other “doorways” to new ideas working? Are the videos you are doing compelling? Are the pod casts short and to the point and interesting? Are the blogs readable and well written? Are any notes or tweets easy to understand?

All a path is is a series of social media “doorways” that lead to where you want them to go. Call them bread crumbs. Call them arrows pointing to a place. But either way, they first lead a person to a place and activity to be taken.

What does your Path offer and what are the benefits of taking that path? People listen to radio station KIA-AM. Is your Social Media Leadership path tuned into that station?

KIA-AM stands for— Keep It All About ME. Make EVERYTHING about the prospect and what they will receive when thet enter the “Promised Land” you are guding them to.

Make the path they have to travel, click to, or learn about interesting and always point to something they will learn, enjoy, feel good about, and feel glad they took that path with you.

3) A PROMISE.

What as a leader, are you promising anyone that will follow you?

Gain? Increase? Education? Improvement? Answers? Solutions?

Or are you offering them something so of VALUE that not matter who it is, it is too Valuable to turn down?

Promises are a dime a dozen-unless you LEAD people to the promise and DELIVER, and set yourself apart from the crowd with REAL relationships in the social arena, as all leaders build connections and Value in all they do.

Make a Promise- and KEEP IT- no matter what. That is Leadership in Social Media.

4) A POWERFUL CONCLUSION.

Nothing will point to you as a Social Media Leader quicker than a Powerful Conclusion to the Promise. Give them what you said you would. Take them where you said you would. Teach them what you said you would.

But give them MORE than the Picture Promises, and where they think the Path Leads. That is what Social Media Leadership is about.

Leading BEYOND all expectations.

Leading PAST the Promise to More Powerful Conclusions.

Leading In a Way that it is so Valuable, they will follow you anywhere, anytime, with any suggestion of a path.

THAT is one of the missing pieces in developing a social media marketing empire.

LEAD the folks to places they never thought they could visit or conceive, with Social Media Leadership.

In college, I transitioned from my high school service, leading recreational activities with older adults suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, to after school adolescent development. And ultimately, dismayed that young women in my college town of Las Vegas were more likely to become pregnant and drop out of high school than in any other U.S. city, I founded a nonprofit young women’s leadership development organization. From graduate school onward, I’ve continued to seek out professional and volunteer opportunities to serve others, often times working within nonprofit corporations and more recently working externally, consulting and coaching nonprofit executives and their professional staff to achieve a myriad of professional goals.

Clearly I’m not alone in my desire to work in the nonprofit sector. The Foundation Center reports that the United States is currently home to 1.4 million nonprofit organizations. This may not come as much of a surprise, particularly during the holiday season, when many of us find solicitations from a dozen nonprofit organizations in our daily mail. However, as David Bornstein points out in How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas (my recommended book for the fall), many not-for-profit organizations and their employees suffer from being classified by what they are not rather than by what they are. Consequently, Bornstein recommends referring to organizations addressing social needs as citizen sector organizations, to underscore that nonprofits indeed arise from dedicated citizens interested in making a social impact. However they are, or at least should be, deemed a corporation as much as an organization operating in the for-profit sector.

As corporate, foundation, community, state, national, and individual funding streams are being tapped by an increasing number of emerging nonprofit/citizen sector organizations, funders are demanding increased accountability from their applicants and recipients. While I’ve seen firsthand how such demands can lead to excessive paperwork, the need to cutback services and programs along with professional staff to employ more administrators, I think that these realities can be an exciting wake-up call to many nonprofit/citizen sector organizations. While a passion for an issue or a population might justify starting an organization, it should not guarantee an organization ongoing funding. “By sharpening the role of government, shifting practices and attitudes in business and opening up waves of opportunity for people to apply their talents in new, positive ways,” citizen sector organizations have an opportunity to develop stronger business foundations and engage in more long-term, strategic planning rather than existing from grant to grant (Bornstein 6). Like most successful for-profit corporations and small businesses whose stakeholders demand that they are consistently reviewing budgets, operating with increased efficiency, and providing the best services and products to their consumers, citizen sector organizations have an opportunity to throw up and re-envision their existing, often antiquated operational paradigms. Such organizations and their leaders can merge successful models from the for-profit world that align with their organizational missions and visions. They can set their employees up to be successful by having clear policies that reflect the ideas and experiences of executives, directors, managers, AND administrators. And perhaps most importantly, they can continue to move from addressing the symptoms of social problems, as many citizen sector organizations that operate in a perpetual state of crisis mode find themselves doing, to working innovatively and systematically, to get to their sources.

By: Surranna Sandy
For many, the start of a new year means the start of a new job search using the internet to research employers. For up coming college graduates in particular, it is opportunity to get a head start in getting their careers off the ground using online resources. At the same time, many employers are also researching potential job candidates through Google, Myspace.com and Facebook.com and what they are finding could be used as reasons not to hire you.

A recent poll conducted for Careerbuilder.com showed that 26 percent of hiring managers admitted to using the Internet to perform background checks on job candidates. A further 12 percent admitted to using social networking sites such as MySpace.com and Facebook.com as a screening tool.

For many college students, social networking sites such as Facebook.com and Myspace.com are a core part of their cyber profile used for networking. However, many students are surprised to learn that their candid and sometimes sexually explicit photos and the details of their drinking and dating lives in their profiles can negatively affect their job search. Those disparaging comments, risqué photos, inappropriate language and lewd jokes posted on their profiles could be viewed as a reflection of their character by a potential employer.

According to an HR director, people should carefully consider their potential audience and the impression they may have based on your pictures, personal opinions, and ideas posted online. “We were in the process of extending an offer to a great candidate, until his myspace.com page was brought to our attention. He had a great resume, went to an elite school and had impeccable references. However, our review of his myspace profile highlighted his recreational drug use. This made us immediately reconsider hiring him,” says an HR Director for a financial services company in Toronto, Ontario. “Our company is very conscious of client relations and our public image and we could not risk this candidate’s background being taken as a reflection of our organization. “

A recent poll of Resume Solutions student clients showed that over 60% of the respondents were unaware that their profiles on social networking websites could be viewed by potential employers. This is surprising, despite the increased media attention focused on employers reviewing Myspace and Facebook prior to making hiring decisions.

Prior to starting a new job search, it is recommended that job seekers perform a Google search on their names to find out what a potential employer may read or see about them online. If any questionable content is discovered, content you would not feel comfortable if an employer or your parents view, then request that the site’s webmaster remove it immediately. Questionable content may include nude photos, slanderous comments or photographs that show you in inappropriate situations. Keep in mind you may encounter resistance in getting the content removed, however, you can let them know that they may be affecting your future job prospects and you may have no choice but to seek legal recourse. For that information, that you absolutely cannot have removed due to lack of control, construct a plausible answer to counter or explain away to a hiring manager.

We are not advocating that social networking sites are to be used solely for job searching or building a web portfolio of your resume and job skills, but it makes sense to remove as much of the negative content about yourself as is possible. You should be smart and discreet in your online communications and consider creating private profiles for just your family members and friends.

There are many ways to create a “positive cyber profile” that does not affect your career prospects. College students can create personal web pages and profiles at social networking sites that include their resumes, hobbies and interests, details on leadership activities or academic successes. You can also include photos of yourself but ensure they do not include explicit materials. Job seekers can use their online profiles to demonstrate their excellent communication skills, establish a professional image of themselves prior to an in-person meeting, demonstrate their creativity and diverse interest – things that can set them apart from other job seekers.

As more and more users flock to social networking sites, the affect these sites have on the job search and candidate screening may include employers going even deeper into candidate’s personal and professional lives. It is therefore advisable to put nothing online that have the potential to hurt your future job prospects and include anything that would help you in landing a new job. Use common sense when creating an online profile. Remember that employers who do online searches are looking for reasons not to hire you.

Hope is a powerful force that keeps us going in the toughest of times. It has the power to energize our lives as well as our hearts especially when we are facing the uncertainty of the future.

Hope gives us a reason to live. It takes the obstacles that we face and transforms them into possibilities. Hope allows us to have strength and courage to face the unknown with power and conviction. Hope brings the victory when no one is winning.

“What does Hope do for us…..

Hope shines brightest when the hour is darkest

Hope motivates when discouragement comes

Hope energizes when the body is tired

Hope sweetens when the bitterness bites

Hope sings when all melodies are gone

Hope believes when the evidence is eliminated

Hope listens for answers when no one is talking

Hope climbs over obstacles when no one is helping

Hope endures hardship when no one is caring

Hope smiles confidently when no one is laughing

Hope reaches for answers when no one is asking

Hope presses toward victory when no one is encouraging

Hope dares to give when no one is sharing” taken from a article by John C. Maxwell

Leaders help people believe the impossible is possible. They are able to take a group of people to a place they didn’t think that they could go.

Leaders offer Hope by:

” Helping people change the way that they think.

” Help people win some small victories in their lives.

” Express sincerely your belief in people and in their future

Optimism is the belief that things will get better. Hope is the faith that we can make things better. Optimism is a passive virtue while Hope is an active one. It takes no courage to be optimistic, while on the other hand it takes great courage to have Hope.

This fun team game can be played with your family, with friends, for team-building or leadership activities, at parties, for Church or youth groups, or any other get-together! It is a combination of the classic game of Charades, but players will draw the words instead of actually acting them out. Enjoy playing this fun team game!

DRAWING CHARADES

# of Players: 4 or more

Objects Needed: Papers, Pencils, Bowl (& Possibly a Blindfold)

If you are not a good artist, you’d better hope your teammates are great guessers! To start, have each person playing take 5 slips of paper and write on them various things: famous person, familiar place, common object, movie, song, animal, etc. (it can be anything). Then, place all the papers in a bowl, and divide the group into two teams (or teams of 3-4 players on each team). To begin, have one person from each team come to the front of the room.

These two players (or more if there are more than 2 teams) will then together pull out one paper and each will look at this same paper. They then will go back to their team, and at “go,” they will have to draw what was on the paper. When drawing, there is absolutely no talking aloud by the person drawing, or writing letters and words to describe what is being drawn (only drawing). And, the person drawing must keep their eyes shut while drawing – no peaking! Each team will then be in a race to be the first team to guess what it is their teammate is drawing. The first team that guesses correctly will receive a point. Start another round by having each team send up a new person to pull a slip of paper out to draw. This will repeat, and the first team to 15 points is the winner!

By: Ed Sykes

Economic times constantly change and organizations adapt to these changes. For you to find career success, you must be pro-active about your job. What are the career secrets of those who soar to the top in their careers no matter what the economic environment is in the world?

The following are ten career secrets you can use to “recession proof” yourself and find career success no matter what the economic situation is:

1. Find Out What Your Organization Needs for Career Success

Invest the time to investigate and understand your organization’s mission, goals, and values. Your organization may be facing challenges and the person who can tune into what the organization needs to be successful and provide the solution can write his/her own career success ticket.

Remember, to get what you want in your career, you must help your organization, your department, your manager succeed. Focus on what is important to your manager and provide the solution. If customer service is important, speak with your manager in terms of creating customer solutions. If your manager is a numbers person, quantify all your results, etc.

2. Be a Change Agent for Career Success

Organizational change will change the way you do your job. There is no escaping the changes that are happening around us all the time. Learn to embrace these changes so that you can learn how to take advantage of the career opportunities available from being a change agent.

How do you do this? Be pro-active and ask questions about the change. How does it affect the organization? What challenges will there be implementing the changes? How will these changes affect the way you do your job? And the most important question, “What can you do to help implement the changes?”

Once you receive the answers to these questions, and are able to act on the answers, you are way ahead of the “change curve” and will be looked at as someone who can “make things happen” within the organization. This will lead to countless career opportunities.

3. Be the Master of Your Job for Career Success

Invest the time to learn as much as there is to know about your job. Many times, employees will become complacent and master only the few tasks that they do 80% of the time. Then when a career opportunity comes up, this employee doesn’t have the skill set to take advantage of a promotion or raise.

Take the time to read trade journals, go on the Internet to job related sites, and ask questions to master the understanding of your job. With the wealth of information there is in the 21st century, there is no excuse for “not knowing.”

4. Volunteer to Make a Difference for Career Success

Volunteer for assignments that expose your skills. Look for especially challenging projects that other people have declined.

Also volunteer to mentor others within your organization. This will show and develop your leadership, management, and interpersonal skills. Keep management posted on your challenges and how you are working with the person you are mentoring to overcome these challenges.

Volunteer to write a department or organizational newsletter. This is another way to benefit a large group, while showcasing your skills and ideas.

5. Be a Solution Creator and Not a Problem Maker for Career Success

Anybody can find problems within organizations. My experience is that you don’t need to find them…they will find you. Some people have a special skill for finding problems and reporting them.

Develop the skill of looking at these problems as “opportunities for advancement,” step back and analyze the opportunity, and develop ideas for overcoming the problem. Make sure you communicate these solutions during meetings, e-mails, memos, and conversations with management. You will soon be looked upon by management as someone who can overcome obstacles and make things happen within the organization.

6. Handle the Next Level at This Level for Career Success

If you are a manager and want to become a vice president, then start working like a vice president. Find a vice president that is open to mentoring you for the next level. Remember, that vice president will not be promoted to the next level unless the organization sees that the vice president has developed someone to take his/her spot. It might as well be you. Plus, you can lighten the vice president’s work load.

Explain to the vice president what you want to accomplish so that everyone has a clear understanding and that this is a win-win situation for all involved.

I hear, “I’m too busy already to do this.” Well, let me ask you, “How badly do you want the promotion?” We are all busy. It’s up to you to enhance your time management and delegation skills so that you can take on these tasks that will prepare you for the next job level.

Note: Dress as if you are already at the next career level. When you dress for the next level, this makes it easier for the decision makers because they can already envision you at the next career level.

7. Announce That You Want It!

Many times employees miss out on promotions because the decision makers and career influencers do not know they are interested in being promoted.

Announce that you want to go to the next career level!

Take time to sit down with your supervisor, manager, director, etc., and let them know you are interested in going to the next level. Ask them for their honest assessment of your skills. Then ask what you need to do to be ready when the next career opportunity appears.

Also announce your career aspirations to influencers in the Human Resources Department. Remember the more people they can hire from the inside, the less work they need to do. Make it easy for them to hire you.

Announce it to any one who can influence the decision for your promotion.

8. Network and Join Groups to Accelerate Career Success

Join and be active in committees within your organization for career success. This shows management that you care enough to make a difference. It also allows a larger assortment of managers to experience your skill set outside of your normal duties.

Also join professional groups and associations for career success. Professional groups and associations are a perfect way to let influencers outside your organization become aware of your skills. Remember, these influencers most likely work for other organizations and may be in positions to hire new employees. Don’t just join, participant in the association’s activities to show your creativity, teamwork, and other skills.

Join and let your organization know you’ve joined these groups. This will show your organization that you are an employee who is taking action to stay ahead of the “career success curve” and can contribute to the organization.

9. Tell Your Job Story for Career Success

Let as many people within your organization and outside your organization know what you do and how well you do it. Make sure you tell your job story at meetings, company conferences, and retreats and to customers. Make sure you tell them with passion!

Many people are shy about telling their career story in a group setting. Because of this fear, you may miss out on the one opportunity to let other people know what you know. One of the most important groups that you could ever join to overcome this fear is Toastmasters. This is a worldwide organization with over 175,000 members dedicated to helping members improve their public speaking, evaluation, think-on-your-feet, and leadership skills. The main reasons you should join Toastmasters are the following:

Toastmasters can give you the confidence to approach any opportunity with confidence. Toastmasters can give you the speaking skills to stand up in front of a group and present your point in a persuasive manner, while others may shy away from this opportunity. You develop your leadership skills by learning how to do effective, positive, and encouraging feedback and evaluations, while learning how to empower the receiver to do better. You have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills by volunteering for positions at the club, area, state, regional, and international level. I always say if you can’t get the skills at your organization, you can get it at Toastmasters.

10. Build a Nest Egg for Career Success

One of the biggest barriers to creating career success is not building a financial nest egg. When you are at a financial disadvantage, you are less likely to pursue job opportunities, invest in educational opportunities to increase your skills; and, most importantly, you may develop an overwhelming fear of losing your job while in your present position.

Eliminate your debts so that you can freely pursue any career opportunities that present themselves. It’s no fun knowing that you wanted a certain job but couldn’t pursue it because of financial obligations.

I challenge you to apply these ten career techniques today! You will see immediate job results and go to the next career level no matter what the economic environment may be.

Boston, MA –March 24, 2009 – The Jenzabar Foundation today announced that it has extended the deadline for submitting nominations for the 2009 Student Leadership Awards. After a number of expressions of interest and requests for an extension passed the original March 31 deadline, submissions are now being accepted until Wednesday, April 15, 2009.

“We want to be aware of the most possible student service activities to ensure The Student Leadership Awards are granting those who are truly making a difference,” said Robert A. Maginn, Jr., Chairman of the Jenzabar Foundation and CEO and Chairman of the Board of Jenzabar, Inc. “The nomination deadline has been extended to give busy students, higher education faculty and staff, and non-profit organizations the time they need to nominate outstanding student leaders.”

The Jenzabar Foundation 2009 Student Leadership Awards will recognize seven student groups and their respective leaders for demonstrating a commitment to making a difference through community service and/or humanitarian endeavors either in the United States or globally. The Foundation will award grants to each of the honored groups or activities, recognizing achievements in each of the following categories:

Local community support to individuals or groups that are underserved by existing community resources International humanitarian efforts Campus ministry programs that reach beyond campus boundaries Education outreach to groups or individuals not enrolled in the institution Environmental protection, natural resource management, alternative energy promotion, or climate/habitat awareness Health care provision or awareness Issue advocacy targeted to local, state or federal governments

Nominations are open for students enrolled in any accredited institution of higher education and can be submitted by individuals, educational institutions, or non-profit organizations that have produced work consistent with the mission of The Jenzabar Foundation: to recognize and support the good works and humanitarian efforts of student leaders serving others across the global community.

Criteria and nomination process information may be found on the Jenzabar Foundation Web site at www.thejenzabarfoundation.org. Applications are due by April 15, 2009.

Evaluation of nominees will be based on the content of submissions spotlighting the positive impact and value the group or project has brought to the beneficiaries of its service. The honorees will be announced at Jenzabar’s Annual Meeting (JAM 2009), to be held in May in Washington, D.C.

The Jenzabar Foundation was established to recognize and support the good works and humanitarian efforts of student leaders serving others across the global community. The Foundation seeks to foster a culture of service and to educate and inspire future generations to create a better world. In addition to the Student Leadership Awards, The Jenzabar Foundation actively reaches out to colleges and universities to find and fund projects that best exemplify the mission of the Foundation and the values of service and cultural exchange that it supports. The Foundation also awards grants to other non-profit organizations that have similarly aligned missions, and provides interactive Web platforms and the latest technology to showcase student projects to the world.

About The Jenzabar Foundation

The Jenzabar Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Jenzabar, Inc. The Foundation issues Service Grants and Leadership Grants to institutions of higher education and other non-profit organizations with similarly aligned missions, and helps promote the activities of grant recipients within their communities and on a global level. The Jenzabar Foundation is incorporated as a “charitable,” non-governmental, non-profit private foundation that receives its funding from the corporation—Jenzabar, Inc.—whose name it bears. Foundation grants are managed by the Foundation itself or through partner organizations.
I’ve always tried to have an inspirational approach to leadership and the most common style is “charismatic leadership”. Maybe because I employ this style I also respond very well to managers who have always tried to motivate me in this way. Charismatic leaders always develop good communication with their associates. All of them work with the team so that they actively contribute and develop the vision; the vision then becomes a part of not only the leader but of their team. I’ve always been given buy-in from my teams with a charismatic approach to leadership; my teammates are willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to achieve the vision. I feel like the most important part of a charismatic leader is the ability to inspire extraordinary performance from the team. With this style I always have the opportunity to turn members of my team who normally aren’t involved into active participants.

So when you’re applying it to your everyday work life, remember that a charismatic leader should arouse trust, faith and belief in their leadership ability. If we move forward and grow as leaders, we should also move our associates to become leaders in their own right. But most of all, charismatic leaders inspire a deep devotion in their team. The effect these types of leaders have on their associates seems to be their greatest achievement. This is of course the most important way to be effective and achieve your own personal and corporate goals.

Our story at 104Inc is simple: We like to help others. Imagine a team that consists of family and friends who all have the same passion in life. Imagine a group of individuals who sacrifice so much everyday in-order to attain their goal and one day live their dream. Now, imagine the amount of effort, motivation and discipline it takes for ordinary people like us having a burning desire to accomplish something extraordinary. Here at http://www.104Inc.com, we have the opportunity to do all of that.
“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.” – Abraham Lincoln, US-President, 1861-1865

In order to become a fully functioning, successful individual in whichever endeavor you choose to undertake, you must first cultivate the right attitude and behaviorial traits. No where else is this fact more true as than when we consider the dominant characteristics needed for entrepreneurial leadership.

There are effective executives and directors in many fields but most leadership development programs neither focus on increasing entrepreneurship nor do they employ innovative training methods. However, you can acquire, develop and robustly practice the requisite entrepreneurial leadership skills.

According to the late great management expert, Peter F. Drucker, “The entrepreneur always searches for change, responds to it, and exploits it as an opportunity. Innovation is the specific instrument of entrepreneurship. (It’s the entrepreneurial) act that endows resources with a new capacity to create wealth.”

Entrepreneur extraordinaire, Sir Richard Branson, explains why he changed his mind and became one because he originally “wanted to be an editor or a journalist, (and) I wasn’t really interested in being an entrepreneur, but I soon found I had to become (one) in order to keep my magazine going.”

So in a very real sense, Sir Richard, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and others like them already had attributes of the leadership mind-set and they were behaving in similar ways as leaders do too. If you hope to successfully initiate any commercial, governmental or public service undertaking, you will have to learn, exhibit and embrace the characteristics of entrepreneurial leadership.

What types of character traits do entrepreneurs have? Are those behaviors really important? In a word, these characteristics are important because if you don’t possess them, you will have lower chances in terms of business success. The characteristics are as follows

1. Risk Assessor – this very important aspect of entrepreneurship is probably the most misunderstood one of all. Many organizational executives are willing to take any risk which presents itself as a breakthrough or never-before-tried opportunity. But without taking the time and effort to thoroughly evaluate or explore the potential pitfalls of their new idea, they are not very likely to succeed in their venture. In the course of doing business, you will always encounter a number of challenges, problems and situations demanding your prompt attention, decision and resolution.

However, after careful evaluation there are many risks which are worth taking, especially if their variables can be examined and then worked out and if the majority of these uncertainties are determined to be good for the business. At those times, you must be willing to be a risk taker, otherwise you won’t be acting in an effective entrepreneurial leadership capacity.

2. Wise, Smart and Accepting of New Ideas – Most people believe being smart is all there is to being a successful executive – but wisdom, a willingness to learn new things and an acceptance of new realities and viewpoints are also necessary traits for winning in your entrepreneurial enterprise.

Of course, your cleverness, keen insights, and witty interactions with others will carry you far throughout your business dealings. Regardless of your position, today’s complex and pressure-packed situations compel you to demonstrate mental toughness, alertness of changing circumstances and intelligence about emerging trends. Those attributes will help you earn the respect and trust of your clients and all your associates or partners.

3. Executive Leadership Development – It still surprises me to hear someone say that leadership is just a talent some people are born with. Yes it is true that the raw ingredients and characteristics of leadership excellence can be hard to detect or find among any random or unorganized mass of individuals.

There are not many people who naturally have the kind of nerve it takes to lead. However, today’s innovative training programs easily empower large groups of ordinary people to learn, understand and adopt the proven fundamentals of entrepreneurial leadership principles, practices and discipline.

Your executive leadership skills will serve your venture when your personal qualities and behaviors help you guide, influence, manage and direct people. These abilities will enable you to handle your business affairs with greater ease and positive emotions.

4. An Inner Passion for Your Enterprise – One essential characteristic of successful entrepreneurs is the amount and scope of their enthusiastic, passionate zeal they have for their business. We have seen high levels of this emotional trait in many public service, governmental and commercial leaders who were also founding members of their organizations.

No executive leadership development or innovative training programs can “teach” you how to have an intense yearning and desire for your venture. You alone must have, maintain and increase your enthusiasm for and uncompromising interest in your business pursuits. When your drive, determination and passion reaches a fever pitch, you will be well on your way towards successfully operating and growing your business.

5. Honesty, Integrity, Trustworthy – Every organization is built and depends upon positive relationships. Some management experts say entrepreneurial leadership means dedicating and investing eighty percent (80%) of one’s time into developing, organizing and strengthening relations with associates, customers and other stakeholders.

As cinema director, Neil LaBute, observes, “In a relationship you have to open yourself up.” Every manager knows this is true because without being forthright, dealing sincerely with and providing access to your clients, the business will not go very far.

Your honesty, integrity and trustworthy nature will enable you to earn the loyalty, custom and good will of your community, buyers and sponsors and your colleagues.

Obviously, there are other characteristic and behavioral traits needed to ensure success in your entrepreneurial leadership activities. The five attributes listed above will help you handle most of your organizational responsibilities, duties and obligations.

These traits also form the basis for successful careers in any industry or profession. If, however, you can equip yourself with the means to improve your performance, some additional time spent in innovative training courses will put you over the top.

If you plan on using an executive leadership development program to sharpen your competence in these characteristics, all you’ll need to do is study market trends carefully, think of a few strategic options for your venture, provide the capital and you’ll be ready to take entrepreneurial leadership action.

“The real issue is not talent as an independent element, but talent in relationship to will, desire, and persistence. Talent without these things vanishes and even modest talent with those characteristics grows.” – Milton Glaser
