Its absolutly normal. Small kids usually feel shy while going in front of stranger and communicating with them even in front of their parents. Thats completely normal but what happens when a child stops interacting with anybody just because of shyness!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you sometimes think that you are too shy? Shyness is very common in children, teens and adults. All the people feel shy at sometime in their lives, but being shy most of the time can cause difficulties with day-to-day activities and relationships. Sometimes, it is normal to feel shy, such as when facing a new kind of situation, meeting new people etc. But people who are extremely shy feel nervous even more often. They avoid or cancel social events, have fewer friends, think poorly of themselves, blame themselves when things go wrong etc. Studies showed different causes of shyness. Shyness can be because of genetic, learned behaviors, uncomfortable experiences, distracting parenting, too much threatening, tearing or criticism etc.

Whatever is the cause, shy person in most of the situations lives under stress, which the person is not able to share with someone else, which affects the person. Shyness leads to difficulty in expressing emotions, ineffective communication, problems in school, the child most of the time remains aloof or stuck up etc. People who never grow out of this, may become shy teens and adults. And as the time passes, they feel more lonely and alone, cannot express their feelings and emotions in front of their friends which may lead to different types of disorders, such as anxiety disorders, selective mutism, depression or substance related disorders which affects the person’s MENTAL HEALTH.

So, care should be taken that the normal shyness does not lead to excessive shyness, which is painful for the person. As a psychologist, Psychiatrist, parent or teacher, we can help a person who is going through a stressful situation because of his PAINFUL SHYNESS.

Introduction

Everybody who is in the business of New Product Development knows what a complex process it is. This is a multidisciplinary activity requiring coherence between almost all the functions of manufacturing firms.

Until recently though those who were called ‘product designers‘ played in this process a role of rather a secondary importance. They were briefed by marketing, engineering departments, ad agencies with an only task: ‘We want this look nice‘…

Then something went wrong. And those days are over. Today, Design Council Chairman prepares reports to the UK Prime-minister on how ‘UK businesses can stay ahead of their global rivals by drawing on the country’s world-leading design capabilities’. And at Davos, during the World Economic Forum held under the theme ‘The Creative Imperative’, world leaders discuss how to apply design thinking to survive in the uncertainty and complexity global economy brings.

Approach to design in Russia is still at the level of aesthetics and, at best, ergonomics. In the meantime, design can be applied as a strategic business tool at least in the two directions. Inside the company design can become a strong management tool for aligning – and, thus, optimization – all the processes of NPD through focusing on the needs of all stakeholders for whom the product is developed, through creating consumer-based innovation culture. Outside the company designers have proved to be excellent observers researching into people’s unmet needs and, thus, discovering new niches and even new markets.

Developing innovative product: Seven reasons to think about the future is searching into the ways which made design shift from aesthetics towards strategy and discussing how to make most out of design thinking when developing really innovative new products, – both tangible and intangible.

«Only one company can be the cheapest, the others have to use design.»

Rodney Fitch, Chairman Fitch & Co

Reason #1. Fundamental Changes in the World Design Industry

The industry of design is undergoing deep transformation: from now on design is not only for appearance and style. Design is dramatically changing its role from being simply a tactical device to becoming a strategic business tool.

How does it have to do with NPD?

Design today is playing a much more important role during the first, probably, the most critical phase in the whole process of developing new product. This is a stage of strategic planning when you need to understand what to do, what target audience will be involved, what brand values will be pronounced, what new value to your customer this product will bring. It will not be an overstatement to say that it is from this stage success and failure of the new product depends. After all, it is not by accident that this ‘0‘ phase is called the Fuzzy Front End of Innovation…

What happens with designers today?

They expand their capabilities into new to them areas until then being ‘occupied’ by marketers, brand specialists and management consultants. They obtain degrees in business and anthropology, psychology and ethnography. And more and more they become ‘human factors’ specialists.

«We investigated into fourteen large companies with an annual sales volume from $500 million to $10 billion. We discovered that only four of them had managed to meet plan in terms of timing, functionality of new products and market share. In five cases companies designed new generation’s products which were positively evaluated by experts, but at the end these products failed. As it turned out, every time when in an NPD process difficulties occurred, the roots of problems could easily be found at the stage of early planning, when the company had to decide what design the new product will have.»

«In search for new generation’s product», Harvard Business Review, 2007

Reason #2. Transformation of Consumption Culture

What are the reasons for the changes in the role design plays in NPD?

Technological revolution provides customers with real power in the market. Today, the question of the utmost importance for brands is how to satisfy people who have an almost endless choice reinforced by instant access to global market.

Thus, the main issue of NPD has dramatically changed:

Until recently it was: ‘What technical/organization/financial/manufacturing possibilities for designing new product we have’ (Technology-Driven Strategy);

Now: ‘What else does our customer want?/How can we emphasize with him?/What should we design to make our new brand/product experience as interesting, amazing, exciting as possible’(Consumer-Driven Strategy).

«It’s About Wants, Not Needs.

Consumers are saying they have enough stuff, want more experiences – 59% of them say they have all the material things they need.»

Fitch, 2005

Moreover, fusion of virtual and mobile cultures give people the power to manage their own ‘marketing environment’ regardless of companies business aims:

«3000: Number of advertising messages people are exposed to per day;

90%: Proportion of people who can skip TV ads who do skip TV ads;

80%: Market share of video recorders with ad skipping technology in 2008;

69%: Proportion of people interested in technology that enable them to skip of block advertising.»

Justin Kirby & Paul Marsden (2006). Connected thinking, Oxford, UK

Reason #3. Marketing Research vs. Design Research

Who meets new challenges?

Traditional marketing tools are good to shape already existed in the market ideas, understand whether these ideas have huge market and potential. All anything, but the larger demand for innovation, the more problems with identifying new product opportunities marketing has. Thus, companies have huge difficulties with identifying unmet customer needs since these are largely latent and not easy to formulate by the customers themselves.

By this, intuitive thinking, qualitative approach used by designers is very good for imagining new possibilities. Designers proved to be those folks who have managed to accomplish traditional marketing research with its design research methods based on approaching to human life in all its complexity and versatility.

This was the reason the whole NPD chain turned upside down and today it is not marketers and so called creative agencies tell designers what to do, but design consultancies identify new product opportunities, create design briefs, conduct research, develop a platform for further innovations and even brief ad companies on how to promote the new product.

«Eìery year brings 30,000 new products.

About 90% of the fail despite thorough and expensive market research…»

Harvard Business Review, 2005

«If I’d asked people what they wanted, they would have asked for a better horse…»

Henry Ford

Reason #4. From ‘Consumer’ to ‘Human’ Experience

What philosophy is behind design research?

Unlike artificial situations of focus group discussions, designers prefer conducting in-context observations looking at the world through their customers’ eyes, empathizing with the soul, mind and body of customer. Philosophy of Zen Buddhism with its total immersion in reality, attention to ordinary life and day-to-day experiences is possibly the best way to describe how they like approaching to work.

Those who combine design thinking with interest in user research are called human fa?tors specialists. They research into total human – not merely customer – experience, investigate how people approach the world, what nuances of interaction with the product, brand, environment is of the most importance for them, what they expect from usage. That’s why in development divisions of many companies we can find such new positions as cognitive psychologists, social anthropologists, cross-cultural specialists who adapt products of global brands to markets with different values and mentality, as well as ethnographers. For example, Intel has more than twenty ethnographers among its employees. Microsoft, British Telecom, AT&T, HP, IBM – these and many other companies hire ethnographers who are excellent at watching people during design research.

If in a focus group you ask your potential user what characteristics should product of the future possess, high chances the answer will be in an area of the already known. At best, you will be said how to improve already existed aspects of using, say, a drill. The point is that the customer comes to a shop not to buy the drill. He is looking for a hole in the wall and you can endlessly redesign drill until some day somebody solves the issue of ‘a hole in the wall’ in some different way. And this will be the innovation.

It is not by accident that design thinking is often called ‘out-of-the-box thinking’: it is this way of thinking which helps come out beyond ‘consumer’ experience approach and see a human who has home and in this home he or she wants harmony and cosiness and to reach these one requires a means of mounting the picture they like to the wall. After all, should it be a drill or something else, for this human is not that important…

Reason #5. Design Thinking – Best Tool to Tackle Tacit Knowledge

But why design??

As a real power in the market goes to the customer, and knowledge worker accumulates critical for companies survival knowledge in his/her head, the problem of efficient dealing with tacit knowledge is becoming a real challenge within businesses and organizations. In other words, New Economy requires new way of thinking to tackle ‘ill-defined’ tacit knowledge – call it synthetic, lateral, innovative, right-brain, divergent and, of course, design thinking.

In fact, to go from a business concept of a new product to its actual realization, from the world of idea to its materialization, means to be able to combine together controversial, on the one hand and underdetermined, on the other, demands:

1. Consumer’s need in the product or service;

2. Viability of new product development for business;

3. Feasibility from the point of view of the required technologies.

«In poems, in novels, in painting the brain seems to find itself able to work very well with material that any computer would have rejected as formless.»

Norbert Wiener

«Today perceptiveness is more important than analysis.»

Peter Drucker

Reason #6. From Product Design to Experience Design

What does all this mean for “new designers”?

An ability to create diverse human experiences, not just physical shapes. Content, not simply form. Workplaces not merely furniture. This is a gift of co-creation, of holistic approach to life and ability to fill it with meaning, emotions and lifestyle drivers.

Today, leading design consultancies position themselves as talents in creating a “complete product, brand, customer experience”. They regard this as their main competitive advantage. And it is well explained: ‘industrial design’ as a creation of the product appearance has moved to the Chinese – the chances you outperform them in therms of speed, price and even quality are neat to zero.

It is quite interesting, that the word “experience” is one of the most difficult for translating into the Russian language…

«Truth cannot be defined, although it can certainly be experienced.

But experience is not a definition. Definition is done by the mind, experience is done by participating. If somebody asks, «What is a dance?» how can you define it? But you can dance and you can know the inner feel of it.»

Osho

Reason #7. From the Knowledge Economy to the Creativity Economy

What does all this mean for businesses?

A new stage in the evolution and, first of all, an urgent search for new type of employees who are able to work with fuzzy, ‘sticky‘ and vague information – the stuff inside employees’ and customers’ heads so critical for companies survival.

That’s why we hear about ‘The Creative Imperative’ and observe deep interest of businesses in design, its methods and tools. For apply of such unique design tools, as design iconography, prototyping, scenario planning, storytelling, storyboards, videos have proved themselves as highly efficient in compressing and transferring multiple and complex concepts in the form which is easy to comprehend by a variety of audiences.

Moreover, design thinking being intrinsically synthetic type of thinking – read, leading to innovation – can be highly appropriate to co-create tacit knowledge of the network by:

1. Tapping tacit knowledge

2. Processing it into tangibles

3. Transferring it both inside and outside the company.

‘The Knowledge Economy is being eclipsed by the Creativity Economy…

What was once central to corporations — price, quality, and much of the left-brain, digitized analytical work associated with knowledge – is fast being shipped off to lower-paid, highly trained Chinese and Indians, as well as Hungarians, Czechs, and Russians. Increasingly, the new core competence is creativity – the right-brain stuff that smart companies are now harnessing to generate top-line growth. The game is changing. It isn’t just about math and science anymore. It’s about creativity, imagination, and, above all, innovation.’

The Supreme Court of Rhode Island has been consistent about delineating the factors that The Rhode Island Family Court must analyze in determining Rhode Island Child Custody Cases. Child Custody battles in Rhode Island usually occur in the context of Divorce cases, Post Divorce cases or Miscellaneous Petitions between non married parents seeking custody.

The RI Family court must determine what is in the “best interest of the child” This is very subjective and analytical standard.

Please contact a Rhode Island Divorce Lawyer or RI Family Law Attorney to get legal advice concerning the facts and circumstances in your case.

There are 8 basic factors that the judge should look at in determining the best interest of the child. These factors are used by the court in determining both physical and legal custody of children

“This [C]ourt has held that child-custody awards must be made in the ‘best interest[s]‘ of the child.” quoting Petition of Loudin “[T]he best interests of the child standard remains amorphous and its implementation has been left to the sound discretion of the trial justices.” Id.

Several factors must be taken into consideration by the Judge in making a best interests of the child determination.

However, no single factor is determinative; rather “[t]he trial justice must consider a combination of and an interaction among all the relevant factors that affect the child’s best interests.”

Among the factors the court must consider are the following:

“1. The wishes of the child’s parent or parents regarding the child’s custody. “2. The reasonable preference of the child, if the court deems the child to be of sufficient intelligence, understanding, and experience to express a preference. “3. The interaction and interrelationship of the child with the child’s parent or parents, the child’s siblings, and any other person who may Significantly affect the child’s best interest. “4. The child’s adjustment to the child’s home, school, and community. “5. The mental and physical health of all individuals involved. “6. The stability of the child’s home environment. “7. The moral fitness of the child’s parents. “8. The willingness and ability of each parent to facilitate a close and continuous parent-child relationship between the child and the other parent.” Pettinato v. Pettinato, 582 A.2d 909, 913-14 (R.I. 1990).

If a parent is trying to modify an existing Child Custody determination / Family Court Order then that parent must also prove a substantial change in circumstances since the last custody order. The Rhode Island Supreme Court ruled “Moreover, before a final custody decree can be reopened or amended, the moving party must establish by a fair preponderance of the evidence that the conditions or circumstances existing at the time the decree was entered have so changed that it should be modified in the interest of the children’s welfare.” Pettinato v. Pettinato “Until and unless the moving party meets this burden, the prior custody award should remain intact.” Id.

There is often conflicting allegations and factual disagreements concerning the above listed factors. Therefore, the Rhode Island Family Court relies heavily on psychologist, Psychiatrist, social workers, dcyf report and the opinions of the Guardian ad Litem for the minor child.

Legal Notice per Rules of Professional Responsibility: The Rhode Island Supreme Court licenses all lawyers and attorneys in the general practice of law, but does not license or certify any lawyer / attorney as an expert or specialist in any field of practice.

people in the world who can gather information on events through more than the five recognized senses. These people, known as psychics, often read impressions left from past events on objects or in an area. Whether the knowledge they gain is through their own translations of residual energies or through divine assistance is open for debate. It is far easier to debunk a person who claims to be a psychic than it is to prove you are one. Psychic talents are not like turning on a television or opening a book and getting the whole story. Usually the psychic catches only a glimpse of a scene, a word, or a name. Even people who have trained their talent for years have difficulty at times. Mediums or Ghost Whisperers are a type of psychic. These are people with an affinity for the more spiritual energies. This is not to say that every person claiming to see ghosts is a medium. In fact, mediums are the most commonly debunked field in psychic investigation. Another common field of psychic talent is the touch sensitive or the person who learns about an event through touching a relevant article. Again, there are always strong efforts to debunk this talent. Often, skeptics demand far more proof than is reasonable. When the psychic refuses to jump through more hoops, the skeptic feels justified in deciding they are a fake. Consider the popular saying, “If psychics can really see the future why aren’t they all winning the lottery?” The problem with this type of logic is that it narrows in on a specific field and uses the self-supplied answer to discredit all psychic talents. Psychology is completely different. Primarily, psychology is considered a science rather than a field of talents. A psychologist spends years in school learning to study body language and word usage in an interview setting to understand and assist the client. Both fields use the same talents toward observing details. The psychologist however, has to coax the client into, voluntarily and openly, providing those details. The psychologist then uses this knowledge to lead the client toward self-healing. Even the field of forensic psychology looks to understand the people involved in events rather than understanding the event itself. One big difference is in the social responsibilities of psychology. A psychologist is a licensed professional. They have taken classes, passed tests, and interned with other more experienced psychologists before they began a practice. Furthermore, the psychologist chose their field of study. The psychic is usually born with an innate talent. Both fields suffer a degree of public and private mistrust. People often expect a psychologist to analyze every conversation, not believing the psychologist is just saying, “Hello.” The same problem applies to psychics each meeting is met with fear of the psychic knowing more than a person wants them to know. Each is faced, everyday, with friends and acquaintances wanting free advice as well. Only the individual can decide which of these two talents can provide more benefit. Both the psychic and the psychologist have refined mental skills appropriate to different situations.
Tree Hill the Seasons 1-6 DVD Boxset http://www.buydvdhere.com/one-tree-hill-the-seasons-16-dvd-boxset-p-2725.html

http://www.buydvdhere.com/one-tree-hill-the-seasons-16-dvd-boxset-p-2725.html

One Tree Hill certainly cannot be criticized for being a fluffy teen drama. It tackles serious real life issues head on. We recently saw Peyton’s birth mother lose her battle with breast cancer. Discussions about sex and divorce have been a part of the show from the beginning. But is there a time where a weighty theme crosses a line into exploitation and something to be ashamed of? Or is addressing that factor enough that it can discuss a serious issue while raising awareness to the problems involved?

When I first heard the episode “With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept” would be about a troubled teen bringing a gun to school, I was not happy. I am a member of the club that believes there are some tragedies in life that need not be exploited to boost ratings. Sure, we live in a culture obsessed with tragedy and awfulness, but that doesn’t mean we should be competing in a game over who can get the most money from telling the worst story. That being said, I expected this episode to be yet another way for the media to cash in on the likes of Littleton, Colorado, or Jonesboro, Arkansas.

However, for the most part One Tree Hill did a pretty decent job. The writers made sure to show a human side to the troubled teen and didn’t make it full of the clichés alone—though there were plenty of them thrown in for good measure. Several characters commented that “he’s a good kid” upon discovering the armed student is Jimmy. If someone is going to turn on you in such a drastic manner, it probably won’t be someone you expect. Perhaps that was one of the points, that we should pay attention to the individuals around us. But at the same time, we cannot expect to pal around with every person with whom we come into contact.

I did enjoy that Brooke and Peyton, as well as others in the episode, made comments as to the media circus events like a school shooting become. When interviewed for the news, Brooke tells the reporter she should be ashamed of herself. Peyton comments on how all the so-called experts will come in and attempt to make sense of it all, that there will be reporters, psychologists, and analysts. They all make an extremely valid point. When was the last time someone doing something great made the national news? Sure, we know there are people doing good all the time; perhaps you are one of them. But something makes us tune in when the story reeks of calamity.

So why do I feel this episode of One Tree Hill was only pretty decent? Well, the ending ruined it. In fact, I feel as though the ending went against the entire point and purpose to the rest of the episode. The audience won’t be thinking about what Jimmy did and why or how they could make sure it doesn’t happen to them. They will be worried about Keith and if Dan killed him or not. And while Dan is definitely the villain in this show, he isn’t so demented as to exploit a school shooting to kill his brother and get away with it. So now, instead of wondering what the impact of Jimmy’s actions will have, the show’s audience is going to wonder if Keith will live to marry Karen and adopt Lucas or not. Keith had just come back to the show after a pretty long disappearance so I fail to see the motivation behind ending a pretty serious episode with an act of sibling rivalry to cheapen everything that took place before.

Assuming that you have several prospective divorce lawyers in mind to handle your divorce or custody case, you must investigate the qualifications of each attorney. Before investigating the qualifications of each attorney, you would be wise to set the bar on the minimum qualifications that are acceptable to you. An attorney’s qualifications in the following 5 areas will help you in your investigation.

(1) Percentage of practice devoted to family law

(2) Years of experience

(3) Certified specialist

(4) Law school and education

(5) Memberships

Percentage of practice devoted to family law

An attorney’s percentage of practice devoted to family law will help you assess how much experience and expertise he/she has with divorce and custody related issues. An attorney whose practice is 100% devoted to family law issues, such as divorce and custody, will likely have more expertise and familiarity with handling such cases than an attorney whose practice is not 100% devoted to family law.

Years of experience

An attorney is often valued by the number of years of experience they have in a particular area of law. The more years of experience an attorney has in family law, the more they can typically demand for his/her fees. Further, the more years of experience an attorney has with divorce or custody cases, the more likely he/she has worked on a case similar to yours and help you learn what you can likely expect and what the costs will be.

Certified specialist

Is the attorney a certified family law specialist? Some attorneys may seek to become a certified family law specialist by demonstrating extensive experience and testing in the field of family law. There are certainly attorneys with experienced and expertise in family law that have not sought out to become a certified family law specialist. Attorneys that advertise themselves as “certified specialists” may demand a higher fee.

Education

The fact that an attorney graduated from a prestigious law school does not necessarily guarantee that he/she is more qualified and more experienced in the field of family law than an attorney that has not graduated from a prestigious law school. The law school is however still something worth exploring because it may demonstrate how serious, dedicated, and committed the attorney was to his/her education. Additionally, some attorneys may have various education such as being a Certified Public Accountant or Licensed Clinical Psychologist. You will need to determine the value of the different education an attorney has and the cost that may go along with it.

Memberships

An attorney that has taken interest in the field of family law will often have memberships to organizations in the field of family law. Some memberships are available to any lawyer and some memberships are more difficult to obtain. An attorney that does not have any memberships to organizations in the field of law can often create doubt in the consumers mind about their interest in that field.

The information above about an attorneys qualifications can often be found through the State Bar website or through the Bar Association. As you seek to know more about an attorney’s qualifications, it is ultimately up to you to investigate the attorneys qualifications and set the bar on the minimum qualifications that are acceptable to you.

Estimates are that almost 15 million Americans suffer from Depression, a serious problem. It is a disease. Even though it’s a mental illness, the afflicted is not responsible for it because of personal habits like laziness. Depression can strike every person. It has no reasoning for its path. It can strike the rich or the poor. Race or religion aren’t important. Strength or weakness isn’t a factor with this disease. The historic stereotypes associated with mental illness are meaningless. Without treatment it will get worse. Ignoring the signs will not make it disappear. This medical condition will progress until it takes over your whole life unless treated.

Depression can result from a number of sources. Feeling sad or anxious for a day or two is not the extent of this disease. Months or even years are the time frame in which depression plays. Depression at its worse can lead one to the act of suicide. Remorse is often a feeling associated with the early stages. It can take from you the enjoyment that you once used to receive from your favorite activities. It’s possible to experience loneliness and despair. You may feel like a failure at life and cannot see where the future is going to get any better. Day by day your personality changes to the point that your friends don’t recognize your actions. Work, school, even your home life will feel the sting. It will upset your sleep habits and cause your anxiety to grow.

As previously stated there are many factors that lead to depression. Stress is one of them. Stress itself has many causes such as losing a friend or being told you have a serious medical condition. DNA is a factor. It can be caused by abuse rather it be physical, emotional or sexual. Much of the time it can be felt because of simply trying to get by financially in everyday life. There is so much stress in the world today to compete and satisfy those in our society. Don’t forget that it’s a serious condition. There is assistance for people who look to be treated. Only about one third of the 15 million people who have depression will seek treatment according to data. It’s important that you look for assistance, or if a loved one is affected find help for them.

Prozac and other medications, along with psychotherapy, are a common combination treatment. But medications often have side effects, including causing more depression, as well as they can be expensive as can a psychiatrist or psychologist. Natural alternatives exist that contain hyperforin, known to work as well as anti-depressant medicines. Another effective treatment for this terrible disease is the support of others who suffer it. The bottom line is this there is help for depression but you have to want it or someone has to want it for you.

I hope this information will help. If you want to more information of the above subject, you can follow my series of articles and Visit This Site To Relieve From Depression

Millions of children throughout the United States suffer from attention deficit disorder in one form or another. Symptoms of this problem include impulsive behavior, hyperactivity, and inability to pay attention for long periods of time. You may also hear this chronic disorder referred to as ADD or ADHD. It can continue on into adulthood, causing problems with daily life, poor self esteem, trouble interaction, and bad performance in work or school.

There are many different theories as to the causes of attention deficit disorder. However, none of them have been proven correct at this time. Some people believe that this disorder is caused during the embryo’s development in the womb. Others believe that environmental factors such as socioeconomic status and parental drug use may play a part. Many cases of ADD appear to be caused be biological issues. The genes which control levels of neurotransmitters in the brain have been shown to be different in children suffering from ADD than in other children.

The symptoms of attention deficit disorder are the primary means used to identify it. Many doctors are reluctant to confirm that a child has ADD unless he or she shows what are considered the core symptoms. These will show up early in life and eventually become an important part of behavior patterns. These symptoms are the ones which cause so many problems, both at home and at school.

If a child shows six or more of the symptoms of ADD for a period of six months or more, a doctor may come to the conclusion that he or she has the disorder. Most of the common symptoms show up around seven years of age. However, they can also manifest much earlier. Remember that these signs must be consistent. It’s normal for children to periodically show signs of inattentiveness. Their attention spans are naturally shorter than those of adults.

Children with ADD often have trouble paying close attention to the details of school activities. This means that although the child is intelligent and understands the work, careless mistakes may be common. Children who suffer from ADD may also have trouble completing simple tasks or paying attention while playing. They may seem not to be listening when you speak to them directly.

Children who suffer from this problem will often avoid any task which requires them to focus or think for long stretches of time. They may lose important objects like books, toys, and writing materials. They can be disorganized, easily distracted, or have trouble remembering important facts and details.

It’s important to avoid misdiagnosis of ADD. Diagnosing a child as having the disorder when he or she does not could cause them to be unnecessarily medicated. This excess medication can create new problems of its own. A misdiagnosis of ADD may also mask problems that a child is having with parents or teachers. Remember that when a child exhibits the warning signs of this disorder, it’s important to get help quickly. Statistically, children with ADD are more likely to abuse drugs or alcohol, suffer injury, get into a car accident as a teen, and suffer from poor grades, depression and anxiety.

There are many different approaches to treating children with attention deficit disorder. Some of them are quite controversial. Since attention deficit disorder is a problem that mostly arises in children, the age of the patient is important when considering whether to prescribe medication or utilize experimental techniques.

Many children’s ADD is treated through the use of psycho-stimulants or other prescribed medications. These can relieve most of the symptoms suffered by children with attention deficit disorder. However, they are not a cure for the problem. In addition, treatment of very young children with medications of this kind is still controversial. Because of this, many parents choose to forego this step and instead choose counseling, special concessions at school, and family and community support to attempt to treat their children’s condition.

Patience and support are required when raising a child who has ADD. Many of these children can benefit from therapy with a psychologist, psychiatrist, or other counselor. Behavioral and social training can help them cope with their problem. Support groups composed of other parents and children who suffer from ADD are also common. Many parents who choose medication also use these methods in addition.

When we start to feel bad we would love to see a definitive guide to how bad we actually are. The Anxiety of your loved ones increases by the day. You obviously are the last person to know. All around you, family, friends, colleagues and loved ones know you are in trouble. Addiction of Alcoholism and the bottle and pill has reduced you to a bumbling wreck. You get sick of their moaning and have a few more drinks and/or pills. Recognise this scenario? No doubt you do. Anyway one boring afternoon I decided to try and put together a little device to try and help us all. It’s the 1 to 10 Scale of Misery. See what you think.

1.We are all born on a 1. Probably lasts as long as it takes you to have your first moan about your life. i.e. why is my Dad making those funny noises when I want to sleep.

2. On we go in life. The years pass on by. Responsibilities mount. School, new friends and bloody homework. More opportunities to get pissed off.

3. First tears and rages. That Becky in gym class who broke your heart. Easy to get over. A new bicycle should do the trick.

4. In we go to adult life. Not much fun. Inital doubts that this life is not all it is cracked up to be. Arguements with parents and teachers are a thing of the past. Now you have a boss from hell and a low paying dead-end job. Maybe, just maybe I can have a

drink with the boys after work………

5. Things start to go wrong. Far too much liquor. Missing days at work. Screaming at the wife and kids. Take well meaning advice but ignore it. I am sure that I can sort this out myself.

6. It has gone too far now. Is this going to be my life for the next 50 years? Your Anxiety of the final result is killing you. Better to stay zonked out. First visits to the Doctor. Losing weight. Ageing rapidly. Going downhill at a rate of knots. Everybody concerned. Cannot help myself now. Anxiety of the future and my fear of Alcoholism and Addiction of the finer things in life are killing me slowly.

7. Hospital time. Hope for the future. Life is not so bad. I think I can make this work. But the cravings…….

8. Back to my old ways. Everybody hates me. They also talk a lot of shit. Sleep Therapy,ECT, Wards,Nurses and bad food. Time stands still. There is no meaning to anything.

9. If I continue I will die. Simple as that. Not that important if it is my genetic makeup or my lifestyle. Get help or get dead.

10. I did continue. My family grieves. What a waste. I only………….

Almost a light hearted look at the problems of Alcoholism,Depression and Addiction. We are all creatures of habit and more or less follow the same patterns. You might think that you are unique in your story but believe me you are not. I remember a wise old Psychologist once telling me that he did not really want to know what I had been up to as it was almost irrelevant. He sumed it up with “You screwed up Alan. That is all I need to know”. What he needed to do was fix the problem.

I look back at my time in the trenches and now realise the mistakes that I made. One of the most important was not getting help earlier. Probably through ignorance and embarassment. Silly really as there are a lot worse stories than mine. Ideally I should have stopped at Number 6. But that is Monday morning quarterbacking. It happend and I fortunately lived to tell this story. Everybody is not so lucky.

Show the 1 to 10 Scale of Misery to somebody that you love. Let the Anxiety of the outcome take secondary place. Chip away at their inner soul. Even the most “out of it” character will give it some thought. Addiction of Alcoholism and the mind and body can be beaten. Add up enough “thoughts” and bingo it might be time for the big decision.

While the average IQ rate of the population seems to be about 100, patients with autism mostly have a decreased one due to the learning disability or creating the disabilities; some of the autistics though have shown a normal or even high IQ rate. From this reason many sufferers from the Asperger syndrome are able to lead a normal life.

The autistic disorder is usually diagnosed during childhood, especially around the age of 3-4 when parents notice an abnormal behavior in their children. Some children however can remain undiagnosed until the age of 12 and the medical treatment is mostly hard to begin at this age. Many autistic children are only diagnosed after going to school as they show their poor social skills or a challenging behavior. Especially patients with the milder form called Asperger syndrome can remain undiagnosed until later opportunities occur.

No exact method of autism diagnose is known. Still, doctors must firstly eliminate other conditions by performing hearing and blood tests. Autism is diagnosed by the close observation of the behavior, social skills and ability to communicate. Parents and specialists must work together to identify a possible autistic disorder. If suspicion of autism persists, the child will be seen by a group of specialists such as a pediatrician, a child psycho loge and psychiatrist, a speech therapist and an educational expert. Every autistic child must have his personal caretaker which will closely observe the patient’s assessment and progresses.

An appropriate treatment for autism includes education, special behavior and speech training and even medications in some cases. Children with autistic disorders require special care in an appropriate school environment or in regular schools with additional help if the symptoms are moderate. The progresses of the patients very much depend on a well organized structure of the classes and classrooms. Schools must also use methods to help the patients find new ways of expressing themselves.

An adequate behavior therapy can only be provided by a clinical psychologist and will help the family to better understand the child’s needs. Some neurovegetative abnormal actions can be controlled by medications. Autistic children have frequent outbursts of aggressiveness, obsessions, hyper agitation and hyperactivity of their behavior. Used for a longer period of time, these drugs can show dangerous side-effects like provoking obsessions and repetitive actions.

Other therapeutic approaches are known, but they are however not approved by medical organizations as their benefits are not been proven. Music therapies can help calming down the patients while symbols and pictures might improve the communication skills. Another unscientifically proved method of treating autism symptoms is the use of the Secretin hormone.

The autistic child requires permanent care and the parent will need another qualified persons to help with the child’s observation. Caretakers of patients with such disorders are also entitled to an allowance for disabilities.
