Now a days the set of parents are so busy with their working schedules that they would prefer their children in the hands of a professional handlers or child minders. They become more like surrogate parents for them. The children mostly look to them for all the guidelines and the way to adulthood. This is mostly true during school holdays when the schools are shut for 2 months and they have nothing else to do. With the advent of TV it is like the child is stuck to TV all the time and it is difficult for a parent who is always absent to monitor the things they watch inspite of the parental control on the TV’s. The summer camp or the medium of meeting different types of children makes the child more adapting and they also seem to be happy in their own age group companies.
The adult/ teacher taking care of them is a professional and can guide the child in a proper manner. With no school and no proper schedule the children can go haywire and they loose their directions if they have any. For the parents who have to report to work are worried about their kids these vacation school gives them breathing space and they can be at ease.
In our area there are lots of summer camps with different activities to suit each childs needs. Like in our area Podar School offers summer camps for the age group of 6 to 12 with a variety of activities like Gymnasium, arts and crafts, Yoga etc. The other schools also offer similar camps for swimming, yoga. They have seperate camps for girls as well as boys. of course this can be switched like one school offers grooming for girls, they teach cooking etc. There are summer computer classes which are rage in the age group of 14 to 18 as they know they cannot do without a computer now a days.
These camps are usually managed by responsible agencies like some school or clubs or gymkhana. They can be for a full day or half a day or can be only for few hours.. If you know what your child is interested in or want to try out you can try different activities.
The children interacting with an professional adult learns more and also they can get a chance to mingle with their own age group which is missing when they are away from school
